Saw this on @Seedsower 's site and thought I'd put mine up too.
Favorite Movie
I love this movie. Probably because it was filmed in Cleveland (where I'm from)and we used to go to Higbees! (I also had almost the same snowsuit as the little brother. Ya know, the one where he falls over and can't get back up. Mine was red corduroy)
Favorite cookie Kolache
I usually make these every year, but I skipped all baking this year. I don't have the recipe in front of me but the dough is basically flour, butter and cream cheese and a little baking powder. My aunt Florence always filled them with apricot and prune filling. I use apricot but prefer a raspberry or strawberry than prune. Their time consuming to make, but totally worth it.
Favorite carol
Hark the Herald Angels Sing (how can you not sing to this one!)
Favorite CD
Love this one. Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams
Favorite gift received
No picture for this one (even though their on my bed) but the favorite thing I've received over the years (and it's alot of years) was flannel sheets. The ex got them for me one year because my house is SO cold and I've never received anything I love more.
Favorite gift given
Probably the photo of my grandmother that I gave to my mother one year. My grandmother died when she was 57. My mother has 8x10 photos all over her house of the family but none of her mom, so I had a really nice photo blown up and framed. Yeah, my mom loved it.
Favorite ornaments (I had to put two)
This one is the oldest ornament I have. I remember it on our tree when I was 4. (there are two left from those days(1963), one's on my mothers tree, it's just like this one but red, and this is on mine.
This one I love because my son made it in kindergarten (he's now 29) and I also thought it was ingenious! It's made out of puzzle pieces spray painted green and glued together.
Favorite memory
When my kids were young, every Christmas was really a favorite memory, but I'll do my favorite memory from my childhood instead of theirs. My mother was alot older than her three sisters, so none of them had children yet (they were teens, the oldest, Debbie was probably 19) Every Christmas, the three of us (my sister, brother and I) would get all dressed up and Aunt Debbie would come and get us in a taxi and take us downtown (Cleveland) to look at all the store windows (they used to have gorgeous windows with moving toys and animals). We would go to Higbees to see Santa Clause and shop for gifts for my mother. (they used to have a shop in the store specifically for kids to go and buy cheap gifts already wrapped for their parents) Then she would take us out to dinner at a fancy restaurant. She did this every year until we moved to California when I was 8. Next to Christmas day, this was one of the highlights of the year for us. We always had the best time. Now that I think back, it was really such a loving thing for a teenager to do for us kids. She's still my favorite aunt.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.
(Ziggy's favorite place to sleep is under our tree.)
